The Police Department Expansion Project has been on the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) for the past four (4) years. The Police Department currently has eighteen (18) full-time officers. As growth continues, so is the need for additional staffing. The expansion would improve the following areas:
Evidence Room: The evidence room area needs to be enlarged and updated to current law enforcement standards. The project would increase the secure area footprint with a separate area to store firearms, money, and narcotics, away from other evidence.
Interview Room: Interviews and Interrogations are an important part of the judicial process. Currently we have one room that is utilized as an interview room for suspected offenders, an interview of victims, a report room for citizens, and a temporary office for mutual aid departments. Our intentions are to separate those functions.
Office Space: As the police department has grown in recent years, we have only increased the footprint by 2 small offices. As we continue to grow with new and specialized positions, we are in great need of more offices.
File Storage: Currently, we house a portion of our records in the equipment supply room. The remainder of the records are stored off-site, due to lack of space. The goal is to have the records stored in a separate and secure room.
Conference/Training Room: The conference room would be for shift briefing, meeting, training, and any other need for more than three (3) people to meet.
Locker Room: Would be utilized for change of uniforms and storm response during inclement weather call-ins.
Equipment Storage: This area is to secure our armory and items associated with our firearms, civil disturbance gear, uniforms and other gear, processing equipment, cleaning supplies and toiletries, and holiday décor.
Kitchen Area: The addition of a break room for officers to be able to cook and eat meals. Currently, they eat at their desks, which is also the department workspace.
